Masterpiece of Gothic architecture of the thirteenth century, the Notre-Dame church of Dijon stands Notre-Dame square. It is opposite Musette Street and close to the Palace of the Dukes and the States of Burgundy.
Listed as a historical monument, Notre-Dame de Dijon church was built between 1229 and 1250. At its site was originally a simple chapel called Sainte-Marie chapel. Around 1150, it was rebuilt in the Romanesque style.
The church Notre-Dame de Dijon has no ambulatory and is almost without side chapel. It is decorated with a row of stained glass windows of the thirteenth century and the famous statue of Our Lady of Good Hope. During its restoration from 1865 to 1884, the tower of the cross changes completely appearance. It becomes a lantern tower surmounted by a slate arrow. This church is also distinguished by its screen façade surrounded by two turrets where align the columns and gargoyles. On a campanile rising on the beginning of the south tower of the western facade are the clock and automatons of Jacquemart.
